DJI is making a significant leap into the electric bike market with its new Avinox drive system and Amflow e-bike brand. Renowned for its drones, the company is set to launch its first e-bike, the carbon fiber Amflow PL electric mountain bike, by the end of the year. This bike features the mid-drive Avinox motor and a fast-charging battery, boasting smart and powerful features that are sure to catch the attention of competitors like Bosch and Specialized.
The Amflow PL e-bike serves as a showcase for DJI’s innovative Avinox drive system. It offers an impressive 120Nm of maximum torque and 1000W of on-demand boost power, making it capable of conquering even the steepest inclines. The mid-drive motor operates quietly, with a nominal output of 250W and a peak of 850W. The removable 800Wh battery can be charged from zero to 75 percent in just 1.5 hours using Amflow’s 2A/508W GaN charger.
Despite its powerful motor and substantial battery capacity, the Amflow PL is lightweight, weighing just 19.2kg (a little over 42 pounds). This is achieved with a 2.27kg carbon fiber frame and a 2.52kg Avinox drive system, with an option to use a smaller 600Wh battery.
The bike includes a two-inch color OLED touchscreen display integrated into the frame, along with the Avinox app for wireless access to all riding data. It features an alarm system that alerts you in case of trouble and provides location updates via the app. The Amflow PL offers four pedal-assist modes, including an auto mode that adjusts power delivery based on riding resistance. Additional highlights include a USB charging port for your phone or bike computer, a full suspension system from Fox, and a frame that accommodates both 27.5-inch and 29-inch rear wheels.
