Saudi Arabia has officially submitted its bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2034, marking a significant moment in the country’s sporting history. The submission took place at a ceremony hosted by FIFA in Paris, France.

An official delegation led by Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and Yasser Al Misehal, President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), presented the bid book. They were accompanied by two young talents from regional training centers affiliated with SAFF.

This bid represents a major milestone for Saudi Arabia, made possible by the support of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. It aligns with the goals of Vision 2030 and the aspirations of the Saudi people.

Prince Abdulaziz expressed his gratitude to the country’s leadership for enabling this achievement and highlighted the future-focused nature of the bid, emphasizing its importance for the next generation. “Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2034 is a bid for the future. It is for our children and those who dream big,” he said.

The Prince also noted the Kingdom’s aim to reaffirm its influential position on the global stage by hosting this prestigious event. The inclusion of two children in the delegation symbolizes the significant contributions of Saudi youth, who are seen as key to achieving the nation’s future ambitions.

Yasser Al Misehal, President of SAFF, reiterated the country’s deep commitment to hosting the world’s greatest football tournament and advancing the quality of life for its people. “Our country’s love of football is rooted in history, and we want to showcase to FIFA how we will harness this enthusiasm not just in 2034 – but for generations to come,” he said.

The bid submission is the third stage in the official process to secure hosting rights for the 2034 tournament. Saudi Arabia announced its intention to bid on October 4, 2023, and has since launched an official bid campaign.

The current submission underscores the Kingdom’s determination to host the event. Upcoming stages will include official visits by FIFA and a comprehensive evaluation of the bid, with the host nation selection set for December 11, 2024.
